Jedi followed the trickle of water that snaked through the gravel. It was stained with oil, mud, and unidentifiable pollutants, but it was the only guide the male had in such foreign territory. Darkness pervaded, leaving the large, abandoned machines in stark silhouettes with the harsh glow of street lamps behind them. His amber eyes were intense as he eased his way through the maze of sleeping man-made beasts. Not far off, he could hear two rats squabbling over a meal that was likely as pitiful as their existence. All in all, this place was nothing like the lonely woods he had called home. Something about the area left him feeling on guard and irritable. Despite his unease, Jedi carried himself with a burly confidence. He was well off for his breed, used to fighting with bobcats in his stretch of woods, competing with the buggers for food and shelter. More than once he'd killed the felines for trying to stake a claim on what was his. Hunger wasn't a strange concept for him, but the wolf-dog wasn't used to feeling it so powerfully. He lifted his head, picking up the stale scent of old, nearly molding food. The rats haven't found it? That alone was enough to leave him suspicious. In such a heavily infested area, food shouldn't even have the chance to grow moldy. Still, hunger demanded he follow his nose. He had a ground winning trot as he paced towards the scent. Laying haphazardly on the 'nose' of one of the sleeping man-beasts was a half eaten burger. It showed all the signs of having been forgotten and baked in the sun. Jedi still found it odd the rats had avoided this area. He knew they were adept climbers in their own right. With a shrug, he leaped onto the beast, his nails scratching harshly against the metal in a less than endearing fashion. Quickly, he scarfed down the meal, licking his lips as his head lifted to get a better idea of his surroundings. Jedi wasn't made for cities. All he'd ever known of them were mere stories. The glow like quality was fascinating, the noise far more than he was used to dealing with in the woods. He turned back to the belly of the metal beast, noting the cozy seat. Trying to sleep in such noise seemed a waste of time, but his muscles were weary of trudging across gravel and harsh terrain. The wolf-dog hopped to the ground before jumping into the torn leather seat. A spring was exposed on the far side, stuffing exuding from the wound like pus. It certainly wasn't the worst place he'd ever had to seek shelter in before. Unable to sleep with the sounds of the city, Jedi contented himself to listening and watching the lights dance across the skyline. A far off howl had him lifting his head and curling his lip in a silent snarl. How does anyone sleep in such a wretched place?

UmbraTwo glowing eyes were wandering through the town, more precisely somewhere in the construction site. Two yellow eyes, that were looking somehow... off, inhabited by some kind of madness. She had never liked the construction site, as far she remembered. But that wasn't like she was remembering many things... Not that she would care anyway: if she had forgotten it, then it wasn't important enough to be remembered. She was relying on her instinct for everything, or she was thinking so. Her guest was still quiet for now, it was to early, but everyday she was having more and more trouble to hold it away. The virus had already taken its game through her brain, and was continuously spreading further. Every day her mind and memories were vanishing into a dark thick fog. But she wasn't thinking about that. After all, how could she still think about something she had no memory anymore? Of course if there were eyes there was also someone -something?- who owned them. Eyes weren't lurking around by themselves. A dark and tall silhouette was standing out between the industrial vehicles and other unknown stuff the humans were using in such a place. While looking nearest, one would have recognized there a tall and pretty big female great dane, entirely black if it wasn't for the yellow glowing eyes and the white tongue that showed as she was slightly panting. She wasn't hungry. In fact she had eaten something earlier, soon after she had waken up. What was it she didn't remember. But she was knowing one thing: she would have to find some game for her guest if he was planning to show up this night. Hoping for something to happen -something she eventually would have fun of-, she was slowly walking, a lurker among the shadows the strange machines were casting around. There were noises, but nothing much different than the usual noises echoing into a town at night, nothing to worry about or to be afraid of. Not like during the day, when humans were coming around, making harsh noises with all their mechanical machines. Not even telling about the sun, the far too bright sun that was beating down. Umbra wasn't liking that. At all. A sudden noise, nearer to her and not of what she had heard since she had entered in the construction site, made her ears perking. Her nose twitched as she was taking the scents coming from around. The air was saturated with odd industrial smells, but somewhere into this mix there was something else. Someone else. And apparently, someone that wasn't sleeping. She leaped closer, and her suspicions were slowly confirmed. Her eyes glowed even more, almost looking like flashlights, filled with an odd and somehow malevolent interest. She still had enough caution not to come too close, but instead became less discreet, voluntarily making noises. Eventually what was near would show. Eventually she would have some fun. She grinned, revealing blood-tainted white gums.

If he had managed to get some sleep, it would have been short lived. His neurons were firing angrily, senses picking up on things he wouldn't have consciously taken note of. He stood, glaring into the darkness as a set of paws moved across the gravel of the construction site.
An inky black dog seemed to coalesce from the shadows. She was tall, her frame a vaguely familiar heritage to the wolf-dog. Great Dane, he thought they were called. Her eyes were the same yellow as his, but they seemed misplaced in the face of such a breed. Jedi was glad for his higher perch. He hated being lower than any dog.
The female grinned, her tongue a ghastly white. Is she ill? Pale gums and such had always been a good indicator of sickness, but that shade on the mucus membranes had only been observed by Jedi in dead animals. He could scent blood on her breath and a must he didn't care for.
Jedi merely stared at her, trying to wrap his mind around how she was still standing with such obvious signs that she should be dead. The male's voice was deep and gravely when he finally spoke.
"Who are you?" It was such a cliched response when a stranger came upon him, usually followed by a fight that he won. This time, however, his opponent wasn't some weak little mutt trying to survive in the woods he'd mastered. He was now the challenger in strange terrain, even if he held himself as if he was master of this place, too.

Finally what was near appeared... A male dog. Or well, rather a wolf. Or maybe some kind of mix? Umbra wasn't caring much, as long as whoever she would meet was entertaining enough. At least he was now visible, and even if he was perched on a high spot, the female great dane wasn't worrying about anything for now. She was rather curious. An odd curiosity. She slightly felt her guest taking some interest for the male standing above. She looked at him, her unhinged mind starting to make plans and think about tricks.
But everything flew into pieces as the wolf asked her who she was. A laughter began to go through her, brutally ending up into an ironic smirk. Only a fool or a forlorn would spent the night outside, in this cursed place. "New to town, aren't you? Yes, you are! He who sleeps where he wants has chances not to wake up here!" Her tone was low, but her voice was carrying something strange, a hint of madness. She starred at him, not shy, her eyes glowing with an undisguised interest, thinking about how to answer his question.
"I have no interest on names, but the others call me Umbra," she told him. And however if it was her true name or not, the ones who had given her this name were in the truth. She was a touchy dog, dominant, and her guest hadn't made things better. She was also tricky, liking to play with her prays, even if she rarely killed them. A dead pray wasn't that fun, compared to a living and scarred one. She was also playful, but who would have spent time to play with such an unpredictable dog. She wasn't playful in the common meaning of the word...
"So why didn't you came here? Did you think the town would be a better place to live than wherever you come from?" she asked, her tone lowering a bit more as it changed to a more sugary one. Anyone who had been around the town would already have noticed there was something off. Even someone without much of a brain. Many shops were closed, many windows were broken here and there, and even during the day there weren't many humans outside. And it was better not to even tell about what was hid in some parts of the town. Things with yellow eyes and decayed minds. Things thirsty, and not of water. Things that was waiting for a single bold move to take one down. Or to make it joining them... She grinned more, her posture indubitably dominant, her ivory gums visible and a stench of old blood coming from her mouth. Her guest had chances to be strong tonight...

The maniacal laughter of the female didn't phase Jedi a bit. His expression was of stone cold half-interest. As the female pegged him as new and seemed to sing out a pathetic excuse for a rhyme, his eyes narrowed. "Those who try to disturb my sleep tend to fall asleep themselves," he murmured, a hint of a growl coating his tone. Jedi didn't care for being threatened at all. As she boldly stared at him, he found himself doing the same, an open invitation for her to try something.
Without the knowledge of the affliction that had settled over this place and surrounding areas, the wolf-dog had no fear within him concerning such a dog. To him, she was sickly, and therefore weak. Her size was not enough to deter him. That she was female was not a saving grace either. If she wanted to fight, he'd give her something to chew on - and it wouldn't be himself.
At the Dane's introduction, Jedi remained silent. Names had little meaning to him, but he preferred to keep his own close to his chest. The female continued on, asking him why he'd come to such a place. "Did you think the town would be a better place to live than wherever you come from?"
Jedi turned away, taking in the rusting machines, the puddles of oil-tainted water, the infestation of rats, and the smog coating the skyline like a thick blanket. His lip curled up in disgust. "It wasn't by choice."
No, if he'd had it his way, Jedi would have gone back to his silent stretch of forest and continued his battle with the bobcats and other predators that wanted to make a name of themselves on his hide.
Again, his dark amber eyes found the female's bright, almost glowing golden ones. They were quite a shock each time he held them. Everything about the female screamed sickness. But he wasn't worried. He was of strong health. The mountains and forest had kept him powerful. He'd already come to the conclusion that cities were too crowded and made the animals weak. The pollution alone was enough to nearly have him gagging. It was pitiful how quickly and easily the humans could decimate an area. The air here was as viscous as sap, harsh as the metal beast he resided in. Jedi would have much rather preferred to be back in his clean woods.

Umbra laughed even more at the wolf's answer. "Don't you even realize where you have put your paws? Hadn't you wondered why the town was in such a decayed state? And i bet you haven't even asked anyone what was going on. Even if you look strong, you'd better leave the town. It has swallowed stronger ones than you!" Her tone had risen a bit as she was talking, but it was still tainted with madness, and even with a bit of irony at the end. She sat down, still starring at the wolf, awaiting to see what he would do. Into her rotting brain, plans were forming, but she wouldn't move first. The wolf was in a higher perch, and consequently he had the initiative whether to stay where he was or to jump down, into Umbra's range.
"I can believe it wasn't your choice to come there, no-one chose to come in town anymore. And less to stay..." She yawned, fully opening her mouth and revealing her white insides. Another wave of rotting and blood-smelling stench came out as she closed her mouth. She didn't care. Her guest was telling she was strong, and in fact it was true, physically talking. That wouldn't last forever of course, but why to worry about that? She had always lived day by day, not caring about what tomorrows would be made of, even before she got infected, and that hadn't changed after.
"Anyway you'd better find a safer place tomorrow. If there's a tomorrow at least. And a safe place of course."/b] Her tensed hind paws were ready to act like a spring, her eyes glowing with interest and malevolence, and she was slightly panting. Her guest was eager for some action, and after all, it would be funny to play with the wolf and maybe turning him to her kind. Anyway he would make something to entertain with...

The female rambled on, nearly endlessly. Jedi was quickly losing patience with this...Umbra. What business of hers was it where he settled? None. Still, she continued. "Hadn't you wondered why the town was in such a decayed state? And i bet you haven't even asked anyone what was going on. Even if you look strong, you'd better leave the town. It has swallowed stronger ones than you!"
I've only just arrived. The town's state does not concern me." He was too proud to admit he'd thought all towns were this...deplorable and disgusting. Had it been a nicer place once? The female's words were constantly striking him as a threat. He imagined being polite could only go so far. And indeed, he did see his irritable replies as polite considering he usually greeted strangers with a nasty snarl.
His eyes again began to rove over his surroundings. The idea of such a place taking him down was laughable. Perhaps even the kind of laughter the female was displaying was comparable to how he felt about such.
"I didn't come by choice." The words were grated out through clenched teeth as his patience teetered on the edge. How many times did he have to say it? Is she daft? Likely... Sickness can do that.
As she warned him to find a safe place, Jedi curled his lip up, his ears pinning forward aggressively. "I don't need a sickly dog to tell me how to care for myself." Noting her stance, Jedi tensed his own muscles. Well versed in strategy, he lay down with his legs coiled beneath him, ready to send him sailing at her should she go on the attack.
"Go find a human to cure your ailments. I've no time nor inclination for you."
You'll never get to sleep, he told himself with a long-suffering sigh. Too many crazy mutts wandering around.

"Ooh yes, the town's state concerns you. It concerns everyone that plans to live here. You'll discover soon... eventually," she ironically laughed. Even her guest was laughing at how imprudent this dog -wolf?- was. No-one with enough common sense would realize that this town was everything but hospitable. Was he that blind to it? After all it wasn't her problem, nor it was her head which was in balance. Her ears perked back: near from her she had heard a squeak. Turning her head towards where the noise had come, she saw a rat. An imprudent rat that had the misfortune to come a bit too close and in discovered terrain. She twisted on herself, jumping for the poor rat, and caught it. The little thing was squeaking of terror. Umbra came back to the place she was occupy before, but didn't sat. Instead she starred again at the male above her, eyes still glowing. The squeaks that were coming from the rat were soon interrupted in a pretty slow and disgusting scrunch, and some drops of blood ran out of Umbra's mouth. She bowed her head, clamping the now dead rat under one of her front paws, and teared it apart, swallowing maybe a third of it without even taking the time to chew at it.
Her ears pinned at the wolf's last remark. "Hahaha humans? Humans are just good for us to be hunted!" Her eyes glowed again with a renewed interest. "And they aren't the only ones," she greedily added. Her guest wasn't in hurry, prefering to dull the wolf's patience for now. He was maybe perched higher than herself, but rats constituted a good enough food source waiting for him to climb off his spot. He would have to anyway. Maybe not in the minute, if he was patient, but soon enough. She readied her again, up to jump at him at the slightest opening that would appear into his defenses.

Quite comfortable with his advantage, Jedi kept to the higher ground without any qualms. Some may have called it cowardly. He would have called it foolish not to use one's every possible advantage. When a life always hung so precariously in the balance, it would be a mistake to pass up the optimal place due to pride. While he had an plethora of such pride, Jedi also had an overabundance of intelligence. The more the female spoke, the less he cared for her sickly presence.
Whether he was healthy or not, it could be catching. Her next words nearly confirmed the thought as it occurred. "Ooh yes, the town's state concerns you. It concerns everyone that plans to live here. You'll discover soon... eventually." He lifted his head a little, still watching her from his periphery as he fell into his thoughts. So it can be contagious? But to humans as well?
The female was an open encyclopedia, providing him knowledge almost as quickly as he required it. "Hahaha humans? Humans are just good for us to be hunted!"
Interesting... So this disease could afflict the humans? Make them weak? No, they would never allow diseased animals that could kill them to remain alive. Great measures would be taken. He thought back to his own pitiful humans, how they had taken the life of a fox because it may have been a danger to their pups. He could understand the sentiment, and didn't hold it against them. In fact, it helped him to understand the two-legged beings a bit better. However... If the humans aren't made weak...the afflicted animals are made stronger? That seemed likely. His gaze found the female again, cuing in to the screams of the rat she'd found and decimated as he'd spiraled into his musings. Half the creature was gone by the time he'd noticed it. The screams had merely been echoes of his memory as he played back the sensory information he'd blocked out for a moment.
That, in itself, was dangerous enough. He had to pay attention.
"Do you think yourself above humans, Umbra? Do you think of them as weak specimens compared to your own strength?" She had to. There was no way she would speak of hunting them so callously. Like prey. As much as he hated the humans, he would never be foolish enough to think he could take them all on.
Going on as if his suspicions had been confirmed, Jedi's amber gaze hardened. "That will be your undoing. As strong as you may be, they are more intelligent. Humans are remarkably like a wolf. When their kin is threatened, they bite back harder than the initial threat." The male kept her in his sights, licking his lips in anticipation of a fight boiling. "So if either of us should be watching our backs, I imagine it should be you and not I."

"Yes, humans are like a wolf... A wolf for themselves! It's said they created us, but lost control. Have you seen many of them in this town's streets? Have you checked in the other side of their broken windows' dens, where they hide like the weaklings they are?" As she was speaking, her tone was turning out more and more tainted with madness. But her words were carrying a hint of truth. Of course human's activity was still high during the days, but it had already dropped compared to what it was before. Humans were scarred of what was lying in the dark, scarred of the littlest shadow like children were scarred of the bogeyman. And at night, there was no-one outside... She salivated, thinking at when she had broken in these human's houses, their pitiful occupiers trying to hold her out, their screams, their cries... As fast as before, she swallowed the other part of the rat, barely taking the time to chew it once again. A stench of blood and rotten being came from her open mouth.
When she looked again at the male after the few moments it took her to finish up her rat, she noticed he was readying himself for a fight. She smirked, a mad and malevolent smile onto her face. "Do you know what's the best? Maybe it won't affect you, but if i were you i wouldn't rely on that. Most likely you'll turn out on one of ourselves at the first little bite, even if you kill me. Or maybe that's what you want, joining us?" she mockingly told him. Being immune was a rare occurrence, and one had far more chances to be infected than the contrary. If the wolf would take the risk to fight, she would kindly gift him. She was feeling readier than she ever had been. She knew she wouldn't die. Death was good for others. And even if she'd somehow die, her guest would continue to spread. Implacable. Unstoppable. Soon it would rule.

Her words were surely from madness. A cornered animal was always the most unpredictable. Even pups knew this, and yet she was doubting in that fact. It caused him a great amount of bemusement. As she explained the situation more, Jedi frowned. Humans hiding? This...sickness must affect these animals in a bad way. Fearful humans always turned into desperate schemes.
A long string of saliva dripped from the jowls of the towering female. Spittle flew past her lips as she spoke, painting the gravel at her paws a sleek dark gray. The rest of the rat disappeared down her throat in a flash and her yellow gaze was hard against his own as she smirked at him.
While Umbra regaled him about the power she had, the harm she could inflict upon him, Jedi continued dissecting her every word. So it is contagious. A virus? He'd heard of one before. It had wiped out a family of squirrels in his woods, nearly decimating the entire population in the forest before some immunity was built to combat the illness. "Maybe it won't affect you..."
That must be it. Some are immune. Perhaps I should find those immune. On another look at the Great Dane teasing him, mocking him, he felt a surge of anger. Or perhaps I should just put an end to part of this virus right here and now. But what did he care? This wasn't his home. But if what this dog said was true...he could suffer the same fate.
Jedi cocked his head, not done questioning this willing source of information. "Should I be infected, how long does it take to know?" In other words, how long do I have to take every single dog like you out before I go? However, Jedi was running on the assumption that the disease was eventually fatal. If that were the case, why not just let the infection take care of the animals on its own? Because there are lives in the balance. That is not acceptable.

When the wolf asked her how long it would take to the virus to show its first signs, Umbra gave him a wicked smile, pondering on giving him the truth or not. She continued to starred at him for a few moments, before giving him an answer. For once the truth was better, for the main reason the virus took some time, up to few days, to break in one's defenses. "Maybe a week, for you. You won't know it at first, then you'll grow ill and weak. And when you'll finally pass through that, you'll discover it has turned you into something different. Don't think that we are weak, that's a common mistake... And generally a last." Of course who was weak at the beginning had only little chances to survive to the virus' strikes. But for her part, she had already lived for months with the virus, and she was still there. Growing more tricky and powerful thanks to it. In one word, different.
Her ears suddenly perked. Somewhere at the other side of the construction site a concert of barks echoed, stopping as quickly as it had begun. "Do you worry for few pitiful human's lives?" she asked him mockingly, feeling the wolf growing angry at her teasing. "They bring it on them by themselves. And there's no human's presence to keep things in order. Their army simply never came... Surprising, isn't it? So tell me: why they wouldn't deserve what's going on here?" She licked her muzzle, her white tongue coming up to her dry nose, and decided to remain silent to any other questions the male would have. She could feel him turning out angry and curious. A pretty bad cocktail in her opinion, often driving one to take wrong decisions. She continued starring at the wolf perched on his higher spot. Earlier and later he would have to climb down, she knew it. She still had patience. And the longer she'd wait, the stronger her guest would show himself when she'd finally unleash him. The wicked smile reappeared on her face, her glowing eyes contrasting with her black fur.

A week before weakness, and finally strength. Jedi remained silent as he pondered this more, working out how he would handle the situation. Is it worth the risk? Really, what has your life become? What do you have to live for anyway? No one. That realization had a twang of finality to it. The taste left behind was bitter and not at all to his liking. Had he really done nothing worth living for? Not nothing. No one. There had never been someone to care for, to protect. In another life, he felt he may have enjoyed that opportunity. An innocent life, a pure heart to counteract the cynical one beating in his chest. In another life.
But this was the now and what he had to focus on was something of far more shape and form. A cacophony of barks in the distance echoed into the construction site, drawing Jedi's attention for a moment. From the barks, it was hard to tell if they were afflicted with the same madness as Umbra or not. But he had a feeling drawing such attention would not do any good for any fleeing from such a sickness. It would only catch them faster.
"Do you worry for few pitiful human's lives?" she asked, her mocking tone still getting under his skin.
Jedi gave a harsh laugh that held no humor in it at all. "Worry for humans? No. I worry for the innocent lives affected by their terror. How long will it be before pups are murdered because they have the potential to become infected? How long before the virus takes hold of even the little ones? Or has it already? Humans. I've no care for their well-being. Only the actions they make. You and your...kin play with fire."
And he had never been a fan of the flames.
Jedi sat up, shifting most of his weight to his haunches should he need the force his muscles could launch into an attack. "Is that your pack now? Calling for you? Be a good house pet and crawl back to your master," he growled, letting his teeth show fully now. Human or dog, she still answered to someone. Umbra didn't strike him as a leader of the pack she'd described. Either way, he'd had enough of her.
Jedi had a powerful sense of self-preservation. He was already flirting with danger by remaining so close to such a threat. The wolf-dog would wait her out if he had to. Humans would return by dawn, no doubt. They'd chase her out, no matter what she boasted. Of that, he felt positive.

Umbra stood silent, still starring at the male. She had decided not to answer to his questions anymore for now, wanting to look at the effect it would have on him. She was waiting for him to make a mistake. An only mistake, that would make a hole into his defenses. From where she was she could almost hear dozens of cogwheels working out into his brain. For her that was a part of the fun: trying to get others confused... Even funnier when it was with a newcomer to the town, and when this one hadn't even cared to inquire about the place he was putting his paws on.
Her grin widened at the wolf's aloud thoughts and questions, unveiling more of her tooth and white gums. They weren't murdering the pups if they had the potential to be turned into infected. Ooh of course some of them were dying anyway, but it was nothing more than selection. Like it would have been anywhere else. The strongest ones survived, when the weak died. And when it came about the pitiful humans, the wolf calling them her kin, she couldn't help but unleashed a mad and ironic laugh. Humans, their kin, really? Humans were like cattle, a prey to be hunted, nothing more! Humans were trying to hide, scarred of the creation that had escaped from their sorcerer apprentice's hands. She couldn't deny the wolf's last words were true. Humans had really played with fire. Maybe once of excess...
"My pack?" She laughed again, a brief laugh that stopped as soon as it had come. "You have a lot to learn still. And by the way, i thought wolves had packs... Where's yours then?" She had lowered her tone, almost to a mutter, but on the same time her voice had become more ironic than ever. There was surely some reason for a wolf to come alone into a town. She had never felt the need to have a pack to worry about, and being still alive after three years as a homeless dog in the town, she thought she had managed well enough. That didn't mean the infected dogs weren't organized, but she didn't see any reason to tell so the male.
Finally, moved by an urgent push of her guest, she broke her glance and brutally stood up. "Time to hunt," she told him, her smile switching to a predatory grin at this simple evocation. "You were entertaining mister wolf, maybe we will see again." Her ivory tongue slowly went on her tooth, and she turned back, her pace quickly fastening. She soon disappeared away in the shadows, wondering how much time would pass before the wolf would turn into one of her kind.

The female was quiet, watching him with varied grins and smiles. Jedi kept his teeth exposed, feeling no pressure to make a move. As always, he did things in his own time. Sometimes, things moved quickly. Other times, he kept at the snail pace of a patient hunter. "My pack? You have a lot to learn still. And by the way, I thought wolves had packs... Where's yours then?" So she thought him a wolf then? Not a bad assumption to make. Indeed, his bloodline was closer to the wolf than most breeds. He didn't bother to correct her. The less information she had on him, the better. Being shrouded in mystery was a tactic she obviously hadn't learned quite yet. However, Jedi didn't believe her to be ignorant. No, he knew her lack of caution was due to one thing and one thing only; her lack of fear. It's hard to be afraid when you're top of the food chain. His thoughts were interrupted as she stood quickly, her eyes narrowing with the anticipation of a thoroughly enjoyable act. Instinctively, Jedi tensed, but otherwise did not move. "Time to hunt," Umbra said to him. "You were entertaining mister wolf, maybe we will see again."And like that, she was gone, melding with the shadows to wreck havoc on some poor, innocent animal. He growled lowly in the dimly lit vehicle, instantly regretting not taking the female down. There would be time later for him, of course. But for another...? He may have just passed them into the jaws of death. Despite his anger with himself for doing nothing, he knew he needed more information to better process what was going on in this city. In the morning...he would set out. ----------Time Skip--------- The male woke from his light doze as dawn lit in the eastern sky. The pinks and oranges were just visible above the skylines, but it was more the scent of morning that had woken him. With the morning came a flurry of activity. Birds would search for food while the getting was good while the rats scurried back to their holes until more food was available. Jedi stretched himself, his back sore from the tension during the night. He hadn't gotten much true sleep, waking fully at each hint of danger. The city was stirring, and with it, humans were beginning to venture into the streets. He avoided the areas humans would be likely to inhabit. There was no need to draw more attention to himself than he already had. While Jedi was used to the plentiful prey in the forests, he wasn't naive to the art of scavenging for a meal. Sustenance was the first order of the day. Energy was necessary to keep up his strength, especially considering his lack of a good rest. The wolf-dog trotted in his usual ground-eating pace. His toes almost skimmed the ground with each long stride he took and he exuded confidence. His movements were precise and fluid, ready to change direction at any given moment. Even as he knocked over a trashcan to search out breakfast, Jedi's ears were facing back towards the streets, constantly listening for threats. ((ooc: Your post was fine~ ;D ))
