(OOC: I know how hard it is to make your own topic and join a topic that already has a lot of pple, so I'm gonna make another thread X) Also, don't be intimidated by my post, feel free to type at any length that feels comfortable for you ) Marie The city was empty in the wake of the thunderstorm. It wasn't truly empty of course, but to the view of anyone on the streets it would seem so. Most hid inside the buildings, asleep. But the streets were alive in other ways. The rain splashed and struck the cracked pavement in waves and rolls like a murderous beast. Objects out in the torrent were beaten and soaked by the water. Thunder roared across the skies and shattered the eardrums of any close enough. It filled the air like a smothering blanket drowning out all other sounds in it's roar. Lightening slashed across the clouds, a tree of electricity so bright it made everything black and white. It was a fearsome night, Mother Nature's anger evident to see. Standing brazenly on the empty street was an infected beast. It stood, heedless to the needles of rain that coursed through its dark fur. A single slash of white stained the darkness and baleful yellow eyes cast their light into the air. The beast was large, larger than what seemed possible. It alone seemed to take up the space of the street. A fearsome sight to behold was the smile on its maw. A smile so vicious and with teeth so sharp you could feel the cut by looking at it. The beast waited, for what only it knew. Perhaps it waited for a companion to share the night. A companion to experience the raw force of nature, to feel alive. Pressure built in the monster's chest. Pressure of the euphoria of living, increased to the breaking point by the crackling overwhelming energy in the air. The pressure burst out of its toothy confine and broadcast the ecstatic insanity of living! A screaming roaring combination of unearthly yet earthly sounds of the beast cut through the thick air, answered by the reverberating boom of thunder. How good it was to be alive! "Come! Share the night with me!" the beast called out. Let some creature come and be alive with her, for once there was safety with the monster.

(( Never. Vulnerable, Risk's pack, limp in back leg)) Never walked calmly on the wet pavement near the street. Although her back leg was in pain like it usually was, she partially walked on it as an attempt not to appear weak should another dog be nearby. The rain made her fur cling to her body making the medium-sized dog look smaller. She often took walks by herself in the evening, even though she knew the dangers of such. She ignored her packmates' warnings tonight because she found the lightning comforting and wanted some time to be by herself. Never's thoughts were broken by a loud explosion of thunder. Did I just hear someone yelling..? she thought, stopping to look around her area. The only humans she noticed were ones running to get out of the rain. Her brown eyes finally fell on a huge black dog, previously unnoticed by her due to its dark fur in the night. She waited. She was far enough away from the dog to turn and run if she needed to, but, vaguely curious, she answered. "What on earth are you talking about?" the ginger dog barked over the rain.

((It's like midnight btw))
The beast's call was answered. A bark spared by the thunder to sound above the rain reached her ears. "What on earth are you talking about?"
Marie did not turn to the dog, instead she tilted her head to the thundering heavens. For a bit she was lost in the madness but eventually she answered.
"I called for a companion to share this storm with me, to revel in the feeling of life!" Only then did the monster turn its yellow lights upon the dog. The screaming wind and the water drowned out her smell, but simply a look was needed. The dog was not infected, a fact that was too bad. The virus made them so mad, it made them insane but when you are insane you can truly feel how amazing it was to be alive. It made her want to scream to yell and take out her feelings on anything. Another infected could share this feeling with her.
She did not dwell much on the lesser creature, for it was unlikely that it would stay. Uninfected dogs were so afraid of embracing the gift that it was to be mad. Too scared of evolving into something greater. Sure, by conventional thoughts they were a danger and sanity did not grace them often. But those were the thoughts of lesser beings who experienced truth far too little. She would have felt pity for them if it was not covered by her scorn and hatred.
Turning back to the sky she lost herself again.

Never took a small step back when she saw the black dog's eyes. Infected. Just my luck, she thought in aggravation. The dog's words confused her, and she assumed it must have just been insane. Despite the situation, Never wasn't frightened. This dog seemed uninterested in attacking her, but she knew that could change at any moment.
"Where are your infected buddies, huh? Go hang out with them," she sneered, hoping to sound stronger than she was in reality.
((sorry for short post, i'm tired lol.))

"Where are your infected buddies, huh? Go hang out with them,"
The dog did not leave. Instead it tried to show itself better than her. Good luck with that. Marie burst out in laughter, her maw opening wider with each laugh until her jaws snapped shut and she said in a cruel tone,
"Where are your uninfected fools eh? They are better suited to your limited range of thought. Perhaps you should spend your time with them!" she turned around the dog's words. She found no reason to not include a jibe at the lower life that they deigned to live in. Even if the dog got mad they were small and Marie was big and had the gifts of the Virus.
She turned back to the dog, and studied her more intently. She looked like a waste of time, a being whose true potential was not realized. Marie laughed again. Let the dog do what it wanted, Marie didn't care.

Never lowered her ears at the infected dog's sudden roar of laughter. For the first time that night she wondered if she had made the right decision to leave her territory. She growled a warning when the dog spoke again. Although she wasn't particularly offended by what was said, she did not appreciate being talked down to either.
"If we're fools, then you're beyond help," the ginger dog snapped back, losing her patience. "Look at you out here in the rain, barking at the thunder clouds! This is what that damned virus does to you, and yet you embrace it like a mindless pup!" she spat in an attempt at a stinging insult. The only thing she disliked more than humans were infected dogs. Surviving out on the streets was hard enough without humans mistrusting them and trying to hunt them down. Infecteds only gave them a bad image and brought shame to all dogs.
"Whatever, laugh at the clouds and rain all you want. I've got more important things to do than chat with a diseased animal."

Marie smiled at the dog when its ears went down. Amusing. She found what the dog said to be absurdly funny. They were beyond help because they didn't need it! This dog was a fool!
"I'm not barking at the thunder clouds, friend and you are the one acting like a pup, too afraid to become something more!" she was preaching to fools, none of them ever understood until she bit them. Sneering at the dog her patience gave out. She would show this dog the true meaning of being alive!
Marie dashed at the dog, attempting to ram into her to knock them both to the ground. If she missed she would try to bite them as they dodged.

Never lowered herself at the black dog's sudden movement. She silently cursed her weak leg, which she knew would make it difficult to dodge the charging Infected. Instead, she let her body twist to the side just as the dog barreled into her, ducking her head away from its fangs. Never concentrated on avoiding the other dog's teeth, knowing the battle was over if they were to stab through her flesh even once.
"I'm not afraid of anything!" she snarled. "Especially not the virus!" She swung her front paw unto the dog's muzzle as hard as she could in an attempt to free herself and keep from getting bitten, water splashing off of her fur on contact.

The dog had anticipated Marie's move and dodged out of the way. She managed to avoid getting bitten. Marie was about to laugh at the dog's brave words when its paw smacked her in the face. Snarling Marie tried to catch the dog's paw in her mouth but missed. Turning around as fast as she could she aimed ahead of the dog and swung her back legs at the dog. Either the hit would connect and they would both fall or the dog would be forced to jump sideways, most likely upsetting its balance.

Never almost felt relieved when the black dog turned around, thinking just for an instant that it might flee. She flinched when its powerful back paws collided with her side, making this the second time that area of her body had been struck. The ginger dog's body started to ache as she slid away from her opponent in response to the impact.
Eck.. c'mon, get up! Hurry! she scolded herself silently, forcing her legs to raise her off the ground as quickly as she could. Without leaving much time to think, Never leapt at the infected dog. She ignored the searing pain in her leg and aimed for the dog's back, hoping to attack while remaining outside of its biting range.

Laughing as her hit connected Marie turned around only to see the dog already up and flying towards her. The dog landed on Marie's broad back almost making her fall. She started shaking violently and bucking trying to get the dog off. She plunged forwards and stopped suddenly, hoping that would throw the dog off or bring it into biting range.

As soon as Never reached the larger dog, she dug her teeth into the fur of its neck for grip. She hung on desperately as she was shaken about. She snarled as she was flung in every direction until she was finally thrown off by the dog's sudden stop. The smaller dog landed on her back, and quickly rolled over to face the Infected. Never forced herself to stand up once again.
Tch, this is hopeless! she thought, recognizing her disadvantage. As much as the akita-mix despised giving up, she knew she had to seriously consider it. I might've had a chance if I wasn't alone. At least running away is better than being killed... Never drew back her lip in a snarl, glaring into the diseased eyes in front of her as she pondered an escape plan.

Marie smiled at the dog as it was flung off her. It hit the ground on its back. Ouch. Laughing she sauntered towards the dog watching it. It was boldly staring into Marie's eyes. Smirking at it Marie ran forward. Suddenly jumping to the side, then as soon as she landed she lunged at the dog. Her attack was most likely going to be very hard to dodge.
Right before she would have hit the dog she jumped to the side again and lunged at the dog's side. She kept her legs primed to leap again if the dog managed to dodge her.

Umbra: virusrising.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tryouts&action=display&thread=113&page=1Two glowing yellow eyes were approaching the place where the call had came from. Umbra wasn't so in a hurry, no sane dog would have called out like that. She stopped while arriving at a crossroad. From what she could tell, there were two females, and mmh... a so-delicious scent of fear spreading around. She stepped up, walking faster now. Her black fur was allowing her to merge on the shadows while coming nearer. She finally saw the dogs, two females as her nose had told her, even if she didn't know which breed they were. Not like she would really care anyway, both of the dogs were smaller. However, they were fighting, infected versus uninfected. She came out from the shadows, heading towards them, not really caring about being discreet anymore. It was time for game, and at this thought, her eyes started to glow even more. This night would be fun, whatever she would choose to do.

As Never stared into the infected dog's eyes, she noticed its small shift in weight and was able to barely dodge its attack. She flinched when she landed on her weak leg, but was careful not to let herself yelp. Now that she had changed her position, Never noticed what appeared to be a second infected dog, even larger than the first, approaching.
"No! Dammit, c'mon!" she cursed. She turned back to the first infected dog. "Backup already?... I didn't know I was such a threat to you!" she mocked, attempting to hide her panic.
