As Solstice came up beside Kaia he looked around. He heard the female speak and gave a small nod. He slowed down as they got closer to the wooded area still left up from the humans and undisturbed by their metal beasts. He let his ears perk some to listen for anything. He lowered his head to the ground and started to sniff around.

Kaia did the same. A deer scent came up her trained nose, which usually weren't in these parts. She raised a brow but continued and signalled to Solstice.

Kaia noticed the signal as he picked up the scent of something. What was that smell? A confused look crossed his face. He wasn't a street dog or anything else, he was a house pet. He ate food made by humans that was packaged in a bag, or at least that was what he used to eat. Now he had to eat things he wasn't used to and take care of himself, though he had found Kaia. She had been kind to him and was helping him survive. He considered her a friend since she was helping him. She could help him learn to survive on the streets, hopefully.

(( "Kaia noticed the signal as he picked up the scent of something" ... I guess that was an accident? x3. ))
"Deer" Kaia quickly said to his confused face. She tracked the deer, following it's faint scent which got stronger as they went along. As she parted some bushes, a fairly small doe was chewing on blades of grass. It wasn't a feast - but then again, there was no chance a sheep dog and a house pet could kill a magnificent buck. "On my signal you run out of the bushes and chase it towards me" She whispered, then on silent paws crept around so she was placed in front of the deer's face, but keeping her distance so it could run for a little and not scent her. Kaia scratched the ground, nodding her head at Solstice to attack.

(Yeah sorry x3 didn't realize I did that)
Solstice looked at the creature for a second and then charged out of the bushes making enough noise to startle the deer. He snapped at the deer's leg like he would one of the toys his owner had bought for him.

The deer bleeped and sprinted towards Kaia. Within a second, it tripped over her body into a heap on the floor. Kaia yelped - that wasn't meant to happen. Bruises from the hooves formed on her neck, but she got up and finished the doe off. It was small, but a meal. "Ouch... next time you can think of the plan" She said, sitting down.

"Okay," Solstice spoke up.
He came over and looked at the animal. He cocked his head as he looked at it before sniffing it very shortly. He sat down behind the deer's back and looked at it. So this was a deer. Though new to him it smelt good and he wouldn't pass up a meal, especially since he hadn't eaten in a few days. He looked at Kaia then back at the deer.
Solstice leaned in a little before biting into the deer, ripping a small part from it so he could eat. 'It doesn't taste that bad, actually it tastes better than the food I used to eat,' he thought to himself as he laid down tearing into the small part of meat he had ripped off.

Solstice looked over at Kaia and a frown appeared. He looked back at the piece of meat in front of him and took one last bite to fill his stomach he stood up to stretch then sat down.

Once he had finished, Kaia stripped meat off the doe. She made sure she was full - but not so she'd be slowed down from the food. Leaving the doe's skeleton and some meat to rot, she walked along - ignoring if Solstice was following or not.

Solstice watched Kaia walk off. He had a decision to make, stay by himself or stay with Kaia. He wouldn't know what to do if left on his on so he quickly started to follow after Kaia. He was quiet as he walked behind her listening to their surroundings. He would stop every minute or so to really listen, though he typically came out with nothing but the birds chirping.

Kaia heard him behind her, she stopped in her tracks when she heard something. A growl. Perking her ears for more, she heard slobbering and snarling. "Hide! It's the infected!"

Solstice's ears perked as he heard the noise. Quickly listening to Kaia he took off as fast as he could without making too much noise. At finding a clump of bushes he crawled into it and laid low. He pinned his ears to his head and looked out of the bushes. He looked around to see if he could find Kaia, but he wasn't able to find her. He knew she had hidden as well but he could have ended up moving too far from her putting her out of his range of sight.
'Ah crap, what have I gotten myself into?' he thought.
He looked around before slowly the infected dogs started to appear though they were merely just shapes they would soon become more clear to his vision. He stilled immediately and watched them with his eye.

Kaia didn't flinch as they brushed past the clumps of bushes she was crouching in, blending in with it. They were a small pack, 10 or so infected, but she wouldn't put herself and Solstice up against them. She didn't hear them talk, only slober and snarl, crunching leaves and brushing dirt away. Suddenly her bushes shifted and she realised she still had blood on her. Two eyes stared right at her, as she froze. Hopefully it wouldn't notice her.

When Solstice saw one of the dogs stop and look into a bush he figured that that was where Kaia was. He knew that wasn't good, but he couldn't do much to help. He knew he was vulnerable. He sat there and hoped the dog would continue on its way. He didn't know whether or not he could outrun all the dogs and he didn't want to find out. He looked on with fear and hope though he felt bad that he couldn't do anything to help her.
